Andrew Duncan-Emmons
Andrew Duncan-Emmons is a multi-instrumentalist currently specialized as a clarinetist, with Eb soprano and bass clarinet as a subspecialty. He comes to the Pakachoag community with a diverse teaching and performance background from all over the east coast. He holds a Bachelor of Music in horn performance from the University of Georgia, attended Manhattan School of Music post-undergraduate, and continues his studies with clarinetist Rane Moore of Boston Conservatory and Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and continues to practice as a neonatal intensive care educator and bedside nurse.
Andrew’s current performance focus is on chamber music as a pathway to building community. He is an avid performer throughout the state of Massachusetts. He performs with The Valley Winds, Pioneer Valley Symphony, Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band, and New England Film Orchestra. He has performed at many venues while living as a freelance musician in New York City including the famous Carnegie Hall. He has toured with the Manhattan School of Music performance orchestra in Nice, France under Maestro Phillippe Entremont. He has also attended the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music and Brevard Music Center.
With 10 years of private instruction experience, Andrew centers his teaching approach around the individual, rather than using a standard algorithm. Blending his love of medical science and music, he believes every student is unique, not only in neurodevelopment and processing, but anatomy as well. Andrew continues to be committed to the importance of music education for all ages, with benefits that last lifelong.
