Our Spring 2019 School Year Show was Laffin’ School Reunion.

We anticipate a similar schedule for 2019-2020.  Check back in August 2019 for details.

April 5, 2019 was Show Time!
6:30 pm at Emanuel Lutheran, 200 Greenwood Street, Worcester.

The classroom at ‘Laffin’ School is running amok with a substitute teacher.  Poor Miss Quackenbush, our teacher, is frantic because her pupils, although nice kids, are comically-challenged. But eventually, everyone gets back on track just in time for the Department of Education’s evaluation.

This play is best suited for students reading at a Grade 3 level and above.  *For students in Grade 2, we request that the student be a fluent reader.  We will screen for reading skills on the first day of class.  For children who are emerging readers, we can assign a “chorus” role to reduce the stress of memorization.

Emanuel Lutheran Church Hall (Worcester) at the corner of Greenland and Upland Streets close to Route 20/Rt. 146 interchange and I-290 at Holy Cross.

More about Laffin School Reunion

A young substitute teacher, Miss Quackenbush, returns to the Little Red Schoolhouse only to find her class is comprised of nice but confused students.

And now, Miss Quackenbush learns that she will be evaluated by Mrs. Sassafras of the Department of Education.  Poor Miss Quackenbush is frantic because her pupils, although nice kids, are comically-challenged.  If you think the four basic food groups should be ‘fresh,’ ‘frozen,’ ‘fast,’ and ‘junk’, you will feel right at home at the Laffin School.   Fortunately, Miss Q. turns things around and everyone ends up back on track.

Our comic characters include, in addition to Miss. Q. and Mrs. S, little Mary MacIntosh, Clydesdale, Bonnie, Patsy, Skippy and other comical, sometimes rowdy, pupils.  Everyone has fun with Laffin’ School Reunion.

2017-2018, In Review:

We Performed:

Hansel and Gretel and the Big Woods

The classic Grimm’s Brothers story with a comic twist!

Featuring student roles for annoying kids, pesky parents, and a few clueless characters along the way (seven dwarves with names like Bossy, Whiny, Narcolepty…) that become heroes.

In this adaptation of the classic story we travel from the woods to the Witch’s house and meet some annoying kids, their parents, and a few clueless characters along the way (seven dwarves with names like Bossy, Whiny, Narcolepty…) that become heroes.

There are plenty of laughs as the kids discover a mean witch, and learn that you can’t believe everything you hear, and you can’t trust everyone you meet.

This play has opportunities for everyone!

The characters in this show are silly and fun to act, no matter what part you get. We have roles for Kid who like to be in the forefront, and kids who might be hesitant, preferring a supporting role. There are songs to learn that are easy to memorize, and some basic choreography too.

Playing theater games will help us learn to resonate, so our voices project to the back of the room.  Working as a team for great rehearsals and a strong performance will bring this comedic rendition of the classic Brothers Grimm story to life.
