Violin Recital

Performance and Enrichment Opportunities for Private Instruction Students

Private instruction students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of enrichment activities. Many of these programs are offered throughout the year at no additional charge or for a minimal, discounted fee.

Performance Classes

Scheduled once or twice each month (Oct. - May) usually on Monday or Tuesday evenings, these classes offer students an opportunity to gain poise and self-confidence in a relaxed setting in preparation for the more formal Recital experience. A school accompanist is available for pre-performance class rehearsals for instrumentalists and vocalists, with additional rehearsal time available for an additional fee.

School-Wide and Studio Recitals

School Wide Recitals, scheduled in November, December, April and May, on weekends, provide a formal atmosphere for student performance; offer evidence of progress for students and families; and encourage students to pursue excellence while celebrating their musical growth. While students are not required to participate in recitals and while we do require that students meet a number of pre-requisites in order to be included in a recital, most students choose and are approved to participate in what proves to be an enjoyable, rewarding and motivating experience. Some faculty also offer studio recitals featuring some or all of their students. This includes studio guitar recitals offered in December and May each year.

Certificate Examinations

Scheduled three times during the course of the year, certificate exams offer students with a more serious interest in music study the opportunity to set specific goals, prepare a combination of scales, technical studies and pieces for adjudication, and attain graded levels of achievement over a period of years. Students interested in participating should consult with their teacher. $40 non-refundable registration exam fee required at time exam date is confirmed. $25 due week of exam.

Master Classes/Workshops

Offered occasionally by faculty according to student needs, master classes allow students to learn from each other, developing a broader understanding of both musical and technical considerations needed to prepare a piece for performance. (May require a small additional fee.)
