Director's Message

Welcome to Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester .  As Pakachoag embarks upon the 2011-2012 school year, we are happy to report that families continue to recognize the importance of investing in a quality music education for themselves, their children and grandchildren. This commitment is demonstrated through continuing strong enrollment, accompanied by growing support of the School's Annual Fund - in both dollars and number of contributors - alongside the School's Music for All financial aid program.

This year, the Fall 2011 Season marks a fresh upturn for Pakachoag Music School as a community-based organization, with....:

  • A New Inside Neighbor at 203 Pakachoag: Our long-time site host and founder, Pakachoag Church, welcomes a new partner into its life and facilities: the Auburn VNA Health Network. The Health Network brings its community-based Pakachoag Gardens, an adult day health program, to 203 Pakachoag Street starting this fall.
  • A New Outside Neighbor: The Pakachoag community will be further energized later in the Fall of 2011 as the Pappas Recreation Complex takes form in the meadows behind the Church. Stay tuned for news and photos of the new multi-million dollar outdoor facilities designed to foster community engagement in athletics AND the arts!
  • New Programs: As our neighbors and neighborhood evolves this fall, so do our programs with the addition of a new satellite location in Shrewsbury, a new Music Together Big Kids (TM)class here in Auburn, an MT Babies Class offered in W. Boylston, and a growing Suzuki Program to include an additional faculty member, Leah Zelnick, teaching both Suzuki Violin and Piano lessons; and
  • A Renewed Partnership: Pakachoag returns to the Guild of St. Agnes Pre-School and Day Care at Granite Street this Fall (after a five year break) bringing music and movement classes to inner city pre-schoolers by invitation of the Guild and made possible with grant funding.

With each of these developments, I am reminded:

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Eleanor Roosevelt

Many dreams converge this coming year of 2012, and Pakachoag Music School is pleased to be a part of a growing vision for community. Please take time to experience what makes Pakachoag special - take a class, attend an event or lend your support. Together, the future for good music and community belongs to us!

Sincerely,
Sarah Smongeski
Executive Director
